Things to do: Purchase House - Check!
Yikes! What have I done??? I just signed myself up for 20+ years of mortgage payments??? ;)
Okay, so today I had an offer go through on a house... well, actually, I guess I may have accepted a counter offer (I'd have to go look at the documents in my car), but really... whatever. :)

Congratulations to Kev and Amy
I just wanted to take another opportunity to say congratulations to Kevin and Amy Haggerty on their wedding. I was lucky enough to attend the ceremony and reception on Saturday down in Fredericton, N.B. and it was a great day.
Now I'll just sit here for the next month and be jealous of them as they travel around New Zealand and Fiji on their honeymoon.

A Nerve Racking Process
So today I'm making my first ever offer on a condo. Yikes... Debt!?! I don't like debt, in fact, I've got none at the moment. And now I'm about to put myself in a position to have a new chunk of it.
Well, we'll see how the offer goes. But right now, my knees are knocking slightly... :)

Stronach Crosses the House... Craziness!
Wow... I'm somewhat shocked. I mean, I'm happy, but shocked. Belinda Stronach has chosen to cross the house, leaving the Conservative Party (who's leadership bid she lost last year) to join the Liberals. I like Belinda, successful in business (even if she has a family legacy to rely upon) and principled. I just read the 'voices' section of reaction to this on the Toronto Star website and the commentary is flowing :)
I hope the Liberals can use this as a catalyst to reshape their party and move past the scandals that have plagued them in the past (whether that's possible is a different issue). I think that while some people would say that Belinda is a traitor to her party, that in fact she would have been a traitor to her ideals if she'd stayed.

Brimming with Pride for my Mother
My mother told me last week on the phone that I 'had to buy the Star on May 7th'... she wouldn't tell me why thoug. So today the suspense was finally rewarded, I haven't yet bought the paper - but I'll have to - though I have read the thing she wanted me to see on the web.
My mother is simply an amazing woman... I don't know what to say - this article (which I've copied without permission - but hey, it's about my mom) gives you just a little insight into what she does, and how she goes about it. I've only ever heard great things about how well she does her job, her patients seem to love her. If she treats them with the same love she has delivered to my family, I can not imagine how it could be any other way...
Love you mom! :D Happy Mother's Day

From 5th Avenue to Michigan Ave
Wow, it's been quite the week. Last weekend, I was in the Big Apple with some friends and spent part of Sunday afternoon walking up 5th Avenue. Today I'm in Chicago on business and went for a stroll up Michigan Ave (the Magnificent Mile) late this evening after dinner.
I went to the House of Blues for dinner tonight, and had a great steak. My biggest impression of this city so far is at how clean it is. People say Toronto is so clean, but honestly from what I've seen of the downtown here Chicago is ten times as clean. I've also been extremely impressed with this city's amazing architecture. I hope I have some time on Wednesday or Thursday to take some pictures... tomorrow I'm off to Springfield, IL for a couple of days.

Going to the Big Apple, While my Small Apple Arrives
Well, I'm off to New York City this weekend (leaving ungodly early Friday morning) and if things go correctly, while I'm enjoying my first day there my Mac Mini should arrive. Hehe, Big Apple, Small Apple... who would have thunk it... :D
Should be another enjoyable weekend... and what do I have on tap to top it? Well, a weekend of golfing and poker with the boys next week in Courtice at my friend Bill's place. Summer is on it's way for sure!

It Ships!
Hmmmm.... it shipped today. My Mac Mini is now on it's way. In less than a weeks time (likely) I'll be a 'switcher'. I won't likely get the machine into my grubby little hands until Monday as I'll be away for the weekend (including Friday). So while it might make it to my office (that's where I have stuff shipped typically so I'm actually available to receive it) on Friday, I won't get it til Monday.
I'm happy that it shipped today, but now I'm curious as to whether either a.) my email/complaint to Apple did something to speed up the process or b.) they simply have zero ideas about inventory/backlog and so when they said the estimated time was midway through May they simply put a big time up to play it safe. Hmmm... anyway, I'm a little less dissapointed with Apple now as they only shipped it two days late. I'm sure the 'user experience' will make up for it :D
